Virginia Lakes are located in a long deep canyon North East of
Yosemite. The color of the lakes come from the reflection of the
sky
as well as the colloidal granite dispersed in the water. Year
around
snow pack grinds against the granite to produce this rock flour.
Glaciers cut this rock and the process is clearly ongoing.
