It is diffucult to imagine that this was one of the first places in
America to have electricty. The wires travel in a straight line
because there were concerns that the electricity could leak out on the
corners of the 13 mile run from the dam and dynamo to town. Ten
thousand people lived in this community with 65 saloons and many other
"ammenities". The 60 mile trip to Carson City took five days and
most people that came here before wintergot to stay to experience the
30 below temperatures and 100 mile per hour winds.
